24hrs in Barcelona

I took a 6AM flight to Barcelona yesterday morning. I arrived around 8AM and spent most of my morning and afternoon walking around, photographing and a short bike tour.

Several people warned me about the pickpocketing that took place in Barcelona so I carried around my money and my ATM in a pocket wallet, under my shirt. The second I pulled it out to pay for my water, I was knocked on my ass by a guy who swiped it from my hands and ran off.

A long and melodramatic scenario took place after this but I've slept only 5 hours in the past 2 days and the point is after desperate measures and help from friends and family, I'm home safe in Roma. I'm planning another trip out there late next month.I'll post a few of the photographs I took with my camera tomorrow.

bastards! Ugh. That sucks, sorry that it marred your time there...Barcelona is so much fun.

Glad you're home safe.

That stinks. If there's anything I can't stand it's a thief.

Ugh that SUCKS. Sorry to hear that.

My dad was warning me about that in Europe in general, I take it you haven't experienced that kind of thing in Italy?

crap! Lesson: keep multiple hidden pockets of money so if they snatch one, you still have more left. I've been weary of those Spaniards ever since the conquest.... although I wasn't around then, but theft was prevalent at that time too
