a mamas girl.

Thank you for ...
your courage to keep me in your womb and giving me life
introducing me to the Gipsy Kings
the crusts you made me eat
the god you made me aware of
the raspberries on my belly
cutting all my hair off when I was caught wearing makeup
showing me how to accessorize
teaching me how to fold a fitted sheet
not killing me when I smeared your brand new red Chanel lipstick all over your white sheets
the chilaquiles you made for breakfast
the car you let me drive before I was legally allowed to
aiding my first broken heart and ALL the other boo boos you kissed
putting detangler in my hair before brushing it.
never giving me a curfew in high school as long as I called.
the swats on my ass with your heels (to which you're probably yelling,"I never did that!" Yes, you did. It's okay, I deserved it.
sharing your secrets with me
the boys you made me stay away from
your decorating, organizational, and hosting skills you so wanted me to learn. (I'm still trying)
showing me how to sit like a lady
being my best friend, understanding and supporting me no matter what
coming to my rescue each and every time I needed you
the compassion you instilled in my heart
letting me sleep in your bed even at 25
your talks about love, sex and how to cook a good pot of frijoles.
for choosing me as your favorite out of the four of us ;)
your cheekbones I inherited.
buying me the green frog shoes I cried so desperately for instead of the practical buster browns
your repetitive phrases - "ONE DAY YOU'LL THANK ME." - " DO AS I SAY NOT AS I DO" - "DO YOU WANT TO WAIT IN THE CAR?!" and my personal favorite "GINA MARIE , SO HELP ME GOD...!"

As a young woman I realize the mistakes you've made. I also understand why. I know none of them were done without the best intentions for all of your kids and through them you gave me the most important lesson I think you could give your child... to be a survivor and love life just as it is.

Feliz dia de las madres

Ti voglio bene, mama.

oh i love love love!!!

"letting me sleep in your bed even at 25"... yes! when i was home for my birthday in march, me and my mom would stay up talking. She has trouble sleeping like i do sometimes and she would tell me the next morning that she had the best sleep over, when i was there safe.

happy mother's day to your beautiful Mama!!!

Good. I meant "good". And while i'm at it.. I also forgot the word "know" in the first sentence.

Gimme a break. I was trying to be nice. You KNOW how hard that is for me (twss).

AND...english isn't my first language.
